“OH, GAWD!….” And What’s Under The Habit

The Anchoress is having fun- and making fun of what passes for political discourse today. Her post, Outing Myself And Whoever Else Wants Outing, is a smart, sharp look at labels and how far too many of us ‘follow the script’ that labels assign.

Using herself as a canvas, she presents her own (and just about everybody else’s) reality in a way that separates the ‘label’ from reality.

Our absolute favorite Catholic loves all kind of sex in all kinds of positions, with the lights on or off. Men in kilts float her boat, Guinness, the Yankees have her absolute devotion and she seems quite pleased with her ‘womanly chest.’ In a world where sexual labels have come to define a kind of morality, she defines, labels and ‘outs’ herself as a healthy heterosexual.

Yawn. So she’s one of us. “OH GAWD’S!”on a regular basis and puts her pants on one leg at at time. As much fun as sex is, that activity or our sexual proclivities, cannot define us. That goes for straights, gays, bi’s and that strange, select few that have the hots for kitty, puppy, or Bessie the cow.

Let’s assume that we’re all getting laid 2-3 hours everyday and we’re each enjoying multiple orgasms, the likes of which we have never known. That means we are who we are, and what we believe, the other 21 or 22 hours a day. Much as so many people would like to believe the world revolves around their crotch, it just isn’t so.

What makes The Anchoress- and each of us- unique and who we are, is to be found in what we believe. We are not what the labels assign as a script. What is passing for ‘discourse’ as of late is nothing more than the drivel ideologues are determined to force down are throats. That job is made easier because the ideologues believe that most Americans either cannot or will not think for themselves.
