One Chilean cab driver has discovered how to avoid getting robbed and dramatically improving business.
That’s right. He dressed his cab up like a cow.
A Chilean taxi driver has come up with a new way to fight assaults: make your vehicle so conspicuous that nobody would dare try to rob you.
After being robbed several times, Juan Geraldo upholstered and covered every square inch of his car’s interior with black and white spotted cowhides, including the steering wheel and ceiling.
He then decorated the interior with stuffed toy cows, and added a horn that moos.
The visual effect is even more impressive at night, when the black and white taxi interior is set off from floor to ceiling by a flood of neon light.
“The effect was immediate. They haven’t robbed me since,” Mr Geraldo said.
He says the special effects also bring in more clientele and have allowed him to expand his cab fleet from one car to nine.
The 46-year-old taxi driver with 27 years’ experience completes the cow theme by dressing in a cowhide jacket and hat.
“The numbers don’t lie, the cow cabs attract more clients,” he said.
“Today all most all of our business is with repeat customers.”
Mr Geraldo says about 80 per cent of his clients are women and he gets calls from television personalities, former government officials and for children’s birthday parties.
Although he has rejected an idea suggested by some to rent out the cow cabs for amorous encounters, he is trying to patent his idea and is keen on coming up with other variants.
“Some would love the idea of a zebra cab or a lion cab,” he said.
“It’s a question of using your imagination.”
We will report on the first cab dressed up as Boy George, as soon as Marilyn gives the OK.

Dr Sanity has plenty to say about the revelations that Teddy ‘I forgot to call the police’ Kennedy offered to conspire with agents of the former Soviet Union and to formulate a strategy that would preclude Ronald Reagan from assuming a second term in office.
To be clear- Teddy Kennedy apparently offered to help a foreign power interfere with the internal politics of this nation.
Dr Sanity asks- and answers the how and why:
How easily they deceived themselves (if it was deception at all) into thinking that they had more in common with the communist party leadership of the USSR than with the duly elected president of the U.S. How easily people like John Kerry supported and enabled the dictators of North Vietnam. Is it any susrprise at all that today, in our war on terror, that this same political party and the same deluded base that animates them see the terrorists as the oppressed victims and the US as the evil oppressors?
That said, they were and remain immoral. They knew what they were doing was wrong- and did it anyway. If they were weren’t ashamed, they would not have deceived the nation, even as they draped themselves in the flag, and called their treason, ‘patriotism:
And yet, psychologically, they have managed to deceive themselves into thinking that what they are doing is for the “good” of the country. That their behavior is actually “patriotic”.
Read Dr Sanity for a an unvarnished look at the way things are, and not the way some would have you believe.
Of course, he wasn’t alone- Jimmy Carter implored the Soviets along the same line. Powerline quotes Frontpage:
Soviet diplomatic accounts and material from the archives show that in January 1984 former President Jimmy Carter dropped by Soviet Ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin’s residence for a private meeting.
Carter expressed his concern about and opposition to Reagan’s defense buildup. He boldly told Dobrynin that Moscow would be better off with someone else in the White House. If Reagan won, he warned, “There would not be a single agreement on arms control, especially on nuclear arms, as long as Reagan remained in power.”
Using the Russians to influence the presidential election was nothing new for Carter.
Schweizer reveals Russian documents that show that in the waning days of the 1980 campaign, the Carter White House dispatched businessman Armand Hammer to the Soviet Embassy.
Hammer was a longtime Soviet-phile, and he explained to the Soviet ambassador that Carter was “clearly alarmed” at the prospect of losing to Reagan.
Hammer pleaded with the Russians for help. He asked if the Kremlin could expand Jewish emigration to bolster Carter’s standing in the polls.
“Carter won’t forget that service if he is elected,” Hammer told Dobrynin.
While we’re at it, let’s not forget contributions to the Clinton campaign from China and other countries (Remember Charlie Trie?), or Al Gore’s campaign fund issues.
In any event, here’s the question of the day: If Democrat luminaries such as Teddy Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, et al, had no trouble looking outside the US for political help and campaign money, why on earth should we not assume that some Dems are dealing with Iran, Syria, Al Qaeda, Hizbollah and Hamas, to further their political aims and ambitions?
The Soviet Union and China were among the most brutal and repressive regimes in the world, responsible for the death of tens of millions. By way of comparison, the radical Islamists are so far, minor players. There are those in the Democrat party that might be very comfortable dealing with Al Qaeda and radical Islamists.
Hey, it’s it about getting re-elected, right? What could be more important than that?
