The True Passion Of The Left
January 18, 2007
This post is a continuation of Patron Saints Of Fascism, a post in which we described how anti Americanism morphed from a ideology that was once purely political in nature and into a new kind of ‘religious’ ideology, one that has come to embrace the rejection of American ideals, values and morals.
The catechism of the left is strange collection of eclectic ideas and ideologies, none of which address reality in a meaningful way. As we noted,
When it is all said and done, the real display of half baked silliness is by the left themselves, insisting that a make believe socialist agenda is reason enough to forgive any despotic regime, no matter how bloody, murderous, corrupt and failed. That remains the undeniable legacy of the left- the support for failed regimes and failed ideologies. The left has supported every ‘ism’ that has failed.
The only agenda the left have refused to endorse is the only one that has succeeded and the one agenda that is gaining ground , worldwide- capitalism. The real revolutions today are not for socialism, but rather, for political and economic freedoms.
To be imbued with a ‘holy spirit’ and elevating themselves into a kind of nirvana-like state, is an elevated state that religious adherents of all stripes hope to find. Dr Sanity remarks,
Happiness , contrary to any and all propaganda, is hidden within the free and joyful exploration of your own potential. Look at any growing child learning about his or her world if you want confirmation of this.
Any psychologist worth his or her salt could tell you that happiness is not tied either to wealth or poverty per se; but is only a by-product that comes about when individuals take responsibility for their own lives; and when they are able to pursue thoses lives, relationships and goals freely, without undue interference from the state or collective.
In other words, in a politically and economically free environment, an individual retains responsibility for his or her own happiness. When the state and those who rule the state say they will take responsibility–then beware.
Happiness is not a gift that any economic or political system can bestow on you or guaranntee. The best any state or society can do with regard to happiness, is to strike down as many barriers that prevent a person from pursuing it in their own unique, individual way. The state can no more dictate what will make you happy, than it can dictate what would please your palate.
In the religion of the left, adherents hope to be blessed with a different kind of frenzy, one that closely resembles a kind of religious epiphany, one that validates their belief that they alone speak for God. They believe that they akin to God’s emissaries and as such, they are morally bound to impose their utopia on all.
Some churches need converts more than others, to maintain platform for their ideology. This is very true of the Church of the Left. As socialism, populism and tyrannical regimes fall, membership grows. In their search for converts, the left have chosen to adorn and wrap themselves in the same ideologies and rhetoric as the Euro leftists. Simply stated, American leftists hope to have same debilitating effect on the American government and economy as the leftists in Europe have had on the continent.
As a result of adopting the Euro leftist ideologies and rgetoric and in the same way that some religions and churches that thrive on the base attributes of hate and rejection, the Church of the left welcomes into it’s ranks some of the most vile and dysfucntional individuals. In fact, the Church of the Left has provided more than one bigot and extremist a home. When you are a leftist, here are no limits. Jews, Black conservatives and anyone else that disgrees with the leftist ideologues and you become fair game for the most vile kind of hate. Conversly, if you publicly agree and espouse anti American rhetoric there is no crime or hate that is offensive enough for the Church of the Left. That truth has been borne out by the support afforded to some of the most vicious and evil regimes in the world.
French, German and Japanese leftists excoriate the ‘American history of militarism,’ to the wild and encouraging cheers of the American left. After the 2000 election, Mexican authorities expressed grave concern about American electoral irregularities. British leftists routinely refer to American Imperialism and perhaps most ironic of all, the left now stands shoulder to shoulder with the Arab world, complaining that the press is being precluded from reporting the truth, hindered by a secret cabal that controls the media (the Arab world of course, has always been a beacon of a free press). Barely able to contain itself, the left consider the Chinese charges to have the most gravity. That workers paradise routinely accuses the US of ‘Imperial Hegemony.’ Considering that China has, for the last 6,000 plus years, been the principal Asian player in the hegemony game, their call is an example of spectacular hypocrisy at best.
That of course is irrelevant to the left. If those making the calls are anti-American, well, they are members in good standing in the Church of the Left. If and when the Chinese invade Taiwan, a free, democratic and not anti-American, don’t look for the left to condemn that exercise of Chinese behavior.
When French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hubert Vedrine remarked that
“The foremost characteristic of the United States is that it has regarded itself ever since its birth as a chosen nation, charged with the task of enlightening the rest of the world”
The Church of the Left could barely contain itself as the Minister addressed an adoring and worshipful choir. In fact, if history has taught us anything, it is the French who have claimed that moral superiority (for themselves only. Their colonies were left in a shambles, with murderous violence and corruption a legacy left to this day).
When you get right down to it, the Church of the Left is not unlike the pagan religions of the dark ages, forcing itself upon an often unwiling population, demanding tributes and sacrifices, with no regard to the truth or reality. Hate America- that is enough. Hate freedom- well, even better. Hate those who would bring freedom to the multitudes, well, that is best of all.
All the while, the Church of the Left fuels that agenda with bigotry, hate and intimidation. That is not an exaggeration. Disagree with the catechism of the left and you are evil, to be eliminated. The Church of the Left elevates itself by tearing down the beliefs of others. Is it any wonder that they have found a temporary kinship with the most radical Islamists?
Naturally, the agendized press are only too happy to bring the gospel of the left to the masses. Like pagan converts and zealots everywhere, the media are only to happy to engage in America bashing at every opportunity, with nothing to insignificant or too small. Being at fore is always being in the spotlight. Why only report the news when you can shape opinion? So what if journalism gives way to agenda?
The truth is not a necessary ingredient when engaging in America bashing, here or overseas. America’s inevitable and immediate decline is gleefully reported when monthly economic indicators don’t rise quickly enough, or even decline. No matter that the US economy is expanding. Last year, the European press (the ‘balanced’ BBC in particular) devoted huge amounts of newspaper column inches and radio and television editorials to the technical troubles the Mars ‘Spirit Rover,’ as being indicative as to imminent decline of American technological innovation. America was in trouble, the European press said, because American technology was proving to be a failure. When the problem was fixed, the Euro press barely mentioned it. If covering America doesn’t include the requisite America bashing, well, there is no point in covering American affairs.
In fact, what upsets the Europeans most is a reality they dare not face, one we addressed here, in the Who And Why Of Who We Are,
We went on to explain that a century ago, Europe was only too happy to rid itself of the ‘wretched refuse’ and ‘teeming masses’. The European elite and intellectuals thought that once rid of the annoying and newly demanding ‘unwashed’ peasant class, Europe would once again regain it’s rightful place as the center of the moral and political world, and thus preserve the imperialist relationships they had established, if not formally, then by necessity. Through benevolent noblesse oblige, Europe would assume control the economic and political fate of the ‘lesser’ nations. Without masses of lower classes, now demanding equitable political participation, Europe’s destiny would be assured. America, that upstart, would be relegated to it’s proper position- that of being subservient to Europe, no more than a source of cheap raw materials for what must be the dominant European economic model.
American successes- economic, political and moral- have embarrassed the Church of the Left. They want us to readopt the same values that this nations forefathers rejected.
It was the ‘wretched refuse,’ that within a few short generations, built a society the exceeded and passed Europe, Africa and the Arab world. In fact, only the Asian nations that have responded to the challenge, building economies and societies that are stunning examples of what can be done when a nation pulls together in response to a challenge.
As the French and western Europeans built a civil service that was dedicated to cradle to grave welfare system, a civil service dedicated to employing millions, The South Koreans, Japanese, Malays, etc., build ships, automobiles and technology, exported all over the world. How did this come to pass? How is it that Asian nations leap frogged while Europe became a monument to inertia? The answer is crystal clear.
Virtually the entire professional and governing Asian classes were educated in America- and exposed to American values which are very much antithetical to the ideology of the left. It is true some Asian anti-American hostility makes the nightly news every now and then, but in fact Asian leftists are marginalized. Japan and South Korea would not be what they are today if were not for American largesse and aid.
The United States is the most ethnically diverse country in the world. The ‘Ugly Americans‘ that shame the left are just as ethnically diverse. This nation was built by those fleeing persecution. The immigrants came to these shores, they were offered shelter from persecution and the equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of where they came from or what they believe. They came to these shores to build better lives and a better society.
It isn’t Americans that are hurt by the theology of anti-Americanism. Those most hurt by the Church of the Left live in other, far away countries. In despotic regimes the world over, oppressed peoples will remain in the dark abyss of tyranny and will never see the light of freedom- all because they are obsessed with denouncing and hating the United States, carefully cultivated by the Church of the Left and nourished by despotic regimes only too happy to cooperate with the ‘useful idiots’ that will draw the focus away from their own excesses.
That is the true passion of the left- and because of it, murderous and despotic regimes will never be held accountable for their crimes. Iraqi murderers are deliberately killing children and the Church of the Left cannot bring itself to denounce that horror. Instead they focus on whatever must be done to exclude democracy, whatever the cost. As natural disasters and man made cruelties become more evident each day, the Church of the Left can focus on one thing and one thing only- the defeat and destruction of America, her values and freedom. As children in Darfur die, as Arab children are taught to hate and kill, and as the after effects of natural disasters take their toll, the Church of the Left concerns itself with ‘getting Bush.’
America will survive the Church of the Left. It is a tragedy that the hate and obsessions of the will keep hundreds of millions, if not billions, oppressed, all because of a hate filled and failed ideology.
Now that’s hate.
Dispatch From The Front Lines: A Teacher Says ‘No More!’
January 18, 2007
Yesterday, we forwarded a few news articles to Mamacita, author of Weekly Scheiss and the smartest educator you will ever meet. The articles, from the Guardian and the Times discuss special ed schools and programs in the United Kingdom.
Mamacita responds to those issues and discusses the more important issues that are affecting the education of our children. She shines a light on the political correctness initiatives that have replaced education as the actual priority of children learning and teachers teaching. She subtley excoriates the unspoken of two tier education systems notes the viciousness and infighting that have had the net result of decimating the educational infrastructure.
Mamacita writes
I am in the kind of mood right now where whatever comes out of my head and into your inbox will label me the Queen of Cruel and Unusual Standards.
Remember, you asked for it.
I am frankly really bloody sick and tired of our schools being used as nursing homes and rehab for a population not remotely interested in becoming more intelligent and useful, or that is unable, for whatever reason, to cope on its own with how a public school works.
Classroom teachers are not nurses, nor are they trained as nurse’s aides. Classroom teachers should not have to change diapers, give medication, take temperatures, lift and carry students to and from the pencil sharpener, insert tampons into flailing screaming bodies (I had to do that, once, and it marked me for life) spoonfeed (literally OR actually), read a test aloud while other students are trying to do it themselves, modify assignments for which the students get the same kinds of grades, deal with daily meltdowns, modify the classroom because one student has seizures if there’s too much color, wipe anyone’s ass except their own, siphon snot out of somebody’s nose, or in almost any other way tiptoe around the sensibilities of someone who obviously is in the wrong place.
Classroom teachers should be allowed to teach the students who are teachable, and any other kind of person should not be in the room. Smart, well-behaved kids have rights, too. Or do they? Sometimes I don’t think they do, because sometimes it seems as though all the rights belong to those students who obviously don’t want to be there, don’t intend to try, don’t intend to behave themselves, can’t understand any of the concepts, and take up so much time with their needs and demands and problems, that there just isn’t much opportunity left to teach the other kids anything. To require 30 kids to read chapter 12 to themselves while the teacher gives one-on-one attention to one student is not ethical. And yet, how else is that one child’s IEP to be fulfilled? That one child has more rights than the 30 other children in the room.
Put the special needs students, the ones who aren’t able to cope, in a separate class, with a teacher who is trained to care for them, and with aides who can help lift and carry and wipe and siphon and spoonfeed and dumb-down the lessons so a few of them can find success, and who knows how to wrestle with the defiant and block-that-kick with the violent.
No student should have these distractions in the classroom. Any child with any abilities or disabilities who can stand the heat and do the work should be welcome, but to tell a parent that his/her child should ignore the drool and vomit and poop and constant touching and occasional shoving and daily meltdowns and frequent seizures and hourly tantrums of the child in the next desk over, is a travesty of justice, both for the ‘normal’ child (whatever ‘normal’ might be) and for the ’special needs’ child, who deserves a safe haven, too.
I am not unsympathetic. I am advocating for all the students. But sometimes the ‘Least Restrictive Environment’ for one student is not the best environment, either for the child or for the other children in that environment. Or for the teacher. We are not made of iron, and some of us simply can not do the lifting and carrying and personal cleaning and calming and soothing of a child who might be larger than we are. And we especially should not be required to do those things at the expense of the rest of the class.
We have noted many times that Mamacita is the kind of teacher that every parent prays will take their child under her wing.
In lieu of that, get involved in your child’s education and school and consider Mamacita’s opinions. If you are of the same mind, stand up and make your voice heard.
