Goebbels, Lies And Ass Backward ‘Progressives’

Why is it those on the left that have embraced deceit, always profess to be truthful, moral and ethical?

Bill O’Reilly is smeared as the deliberate result of misrepresentation. Juan Williams comes to the defense of of O’Reilly and is excoriated for telling the truth.

Rush Limbaugh cites and ‘phony soldiers’ who misrepresent the military in Iraq and elsewhere has his words are deliberately taken out of context and deliberately misrepresented. House Democrats vote to condemn Limbaugh, citing their ‘outrage’ and ‘full support’ for the those who serve. Strangely, neither the House Democrats or leftists that have condemned Limbaugh as a result of their ‘full support’ for the military have anything unkind to say about the ‘phony soldiers’ and their claims that denigrate the military.

Jane Hamsher, author of FiredogPuddle is standing by the demand that Limbaugh be removed from Armed Forces Radio Network because public tax dollars are in play- notwithstanding the reality that Limbaugh has spent the better part of two decades supporting the military. Any claim that Limbaugh is disrespectful of the military is absurd. That said, it is notable that many of Limbaugh’s opponents can make the same claim in their support for the military.

Hamsher’s respect for the military has yet to manifest itself in condemning those on the left who have continually and routinely maligned those who serve the nation.

(Hamsher was the ‘political analyst’ orchestrated Joe Lieberman’s re election in Connecticut. Her political ideologies are best reflected in the campaign she orchestrated for Ned Lamont, one that was one the most shrill, hysterical and vicious in recent memory (to her credit, Hamsher did separate Lamont from a whole lot of money in addition to embarrassing the hell out of him).

The match up between Lamont and Lieberman was hers to lose- and she did. Connecticut voters were not impressed with Hamsher style politics. She is still smarting from that loss. Her obsession with, as she puts it, that ‘pig’ Lieberman, goes on unabated.

“Harry Reid only got 41 signatures for his letter of condemnation of Limbaugh. One of those missing, quite predictably, is the Connecticut for Lieberman candidate — who voted to condemn MoveOn and knows who his daddy is.”

Clearly, Hamsher has begun working on Lieberman’s next campaign and for that, most of the country is most grateful.
No word yet on when those same House Democrats or Jane Hamsher will censure Dick Durbin for comparing American troops as ‘Nazis.’

Deceit and fraud become acceptable when those who espouse that deceit and fraud worship themselves more than they the tenets of freedom. Dr Sanity’s post is a must read and ponder. The psychology of political deceit is profound- and profoundly significant. It bears remembering that political deceit is always preceded by personal deceit. That is another ugly truth and that is why there is a distinct difference between true liberals and leftists.

One of the accepted hallmarks of civilized and free society is an accepted code of moral behavior. No matter one’s prejudices, biases or beliefs, we are all expected to behave in a certain way. As a free and civilized people, truth must be afforded an exalted place in our lives and in our community. If truth becomes a fungible commodity here, we become no different a nation than is found in the Arab world.

If that accepted code of moral behavior is not present in a particular society, that society cannot be counted as civilized.

What we are witnessing today is the out of control and behaviors of those for whom politics is a blood sport. They have been infected with ideologies that encourage and demand dysfunctional behaviors. By design, these behaviors are meant to intimidate and threaten. We shouldn’t be surprised, of course. Western media and leftist ideology created the stage where deceit and fraud are perfectly acceptable.

Imagine someone with a venereal disease deliberately engaging in unprotected sex and other risky behaviors. Of course, we would be outraged. We would demand that persons that are in a position to cause harm, control themselves and their behaviors.

In the highly charged political arena, the political ‘progressives’ are not demanding responsible behavior, nor do they care who they harm. Instead they are demanding that they have their way. Notwithstanding the reality that millions of people will succumb to the deceit and fraud, no one these ‘honest,’ ‘moral’ and ‘caring’ progressives, including the very opinionated MSM- are demanding responsible behavior and integrity. Demanding that kind of responsible behavior and integrity serves the cause of free and democratic ideals. Sadly, few if ‘progressive’ voices making those demands. The demand to impose ideologies by any means, including deceit and fraud, trumps all.

Ronald Reagan was denounced and vilified by the left, but in the end, the wall came down and Eastern Europeans voted for democracy. In the end, it was Mr Reagan and not the Leftists that came to represent the hopes and dreams of the vast majority of those behind the iron curtain

Civilization always moves forward. Hugo Chavez, that tin pot dictator already hated by many in his own country, will be forgotten, just another another in a long list of failures. His brand of government will give way, sooner or later, to democracies that form of government that has the unparalleled track record of empowering people.

Like Fidel and Che, he too will be forgotten and despised in a generation or two. They will be reviled because the truth the left has tried so hard to hide, will come to the fore. The trail of bodies, the beloved ‘people’ they purported to represent, were nothing more than butchers that killed hundreds of thousands over the years, for no reason other than that they were labeled ‘enemies,’ because they dared to think for themselves or question the status quo.

The Anchoress, in speaking of the Muslim reaction to what will be Pope Benedict’s most misrepresented speech, noted that

…the reason we Christians do not feel the need to resort to rage and violence is because we understand that God can pretty much take care of Himself – “Vengeance is mine,” says He. So, we can correct and admonish our brothers and sisters lovingly and trust that He will deal justly with them. In this way, we may live in peace. Or, we try to.

Which was the whole point of Benedict’s speech, in the first place, and of his invitation to dialogue. Which all Muslims, even the fundamentalist Muslims, should be able to understand, if they would consider looking past unending umbrage.

But listen, the Muslims quoted above have said this “Day of Rage” is not “Jihad.” They’ve said they need the world to see that they are “aggrieved,” again. So good, say I; do it. Have your day of rage. Let the world see how very, very angry you are. But when you’re done raging on Friday and it comes to Saturday…then what? Then will you be ready to sit down and talk about your faith and your grievances, like adults? Finally? Will that be the point at which you can settle down and talk to the rest of humanity like human beings, in the same respectful tones you say you seek?

What do you think will happen after your “Day of Rage?” Do you think the world will offer you Benedict XVI, so you can slaughter him and dance in his blood? That’s not going to happen. So, you need to plan on how you’re going to deal with the world the next day. Because you can’t keep on raging. That simply won’t do. It’s getting more than a little tiresome.

The Anchoress might just have well been speaking of the Leftist community- and that explains the Leftist alliance and sympathy with some of the most dysfunctional and brutal regimes in the world. They too, see themselves as above and beyond reproach and questioning and they too, do not believe they ought to be subject to the same moral and ethical standards as everyone else. Truth, honesty and decency are optional. What applies to others does not apply to themselves. They believe that if they rail against decency so that their agendas might see the light of day, perhaps that very decency itself will be up on the altar for slaughter. Just like those who would sacrifice the forward movement of civilization and the future of millions, so as to promote their own failed agendas.

Like the radical Isamists, the Leftists cannot admit they represent and are monuments to failure.

In Speaking Truth To Pouters & Doubters, Gagdad Bob also notes the connection between the Left, radical Islam and the addiction to the narcotic that is deceit. He uses religion as a metaphor, not so metaphorically:

But in the west–particularly in Europe–the covenant between faith and reason has been relentlessly attacked and almost completely vitiated by various secular and materialistic ideologies, with truly grave and deadly results. In the long run, it is doubtful that Europe can even survive its own cognitive and spiritual pathologies, because they are now steeped in a philosophy and a way of life that was never intended for humans. Their “spiritual environment” cannot sustain a truly human community, if only because it cannot passionately defend itself.

That “way of life that was never intended for humans” is among other things, a reference to a way of life that excludes and precludes individual expression. It is almost as if the Left and radical Islam want to mankind revert to non think herds, dedicated to ‘following the leaders.’

Finally, Gagdad Bob’s Money Shot:

Now, secularists habitually steal things from religion and then either pretend that they invented them or presume that they can be wrenched from their sacred context without doing grave damage to them. For example, secularists benefit just as much as anyone else from the blessings of Judeo-Christian values, while at the same time doing everything possible to attack or belittle the source of those values. Again, many things we take for granted in the west developed specifically in a Christian context and nowhere else: the infinite worth of the individual, liberty, democracy, science, etc.

This is one of the primary reasons why secular progressives are so ironically named. They can never really be progressive, since their materialistic metaphysic denies meaningful progress at the outset. Scratch a leftist and you will always discern a nostalgic, backward-looking, non-friction metaphysic–the painful recollection of the lost entitlement of infancy and the desire for a romantic merger with the conflict-free eden of childhood–only projected into the future [emp-SC&A].

The imposition of political and even religion ideologies employing deceit and fraud has proved to be a spectacular failure. The left in this country cannot put lipstick on that pig, no matter how hard hey try. The will not forge ahead with ‘progressive’ ideas if all they have to offer is tried and true failure.

While Hitler had only one Goebbels, there are many more on the left today. In the end, they will prove to be as ineffective as the original.
