Smoke And Mirrors, Obama Style

Barack Obama gave a great speech.
It would have meant a whole lot more if he had given it long before he was confronted with the reality of his 20 year association with a religious bigot.
We have spoken to your mother. We know everything.

Obama wants it both ways. He asks America to rise above race and religion, while hoping to appear religious himself. But he is in deep trouble if a spotlight is shined on his own THEOLOGY. See:

It is interesting that the “right” is in such a tizzy over Obama’s relationship (former or otherwise) with Rev. Wright. Since when has the post-WW2 Republican Party been so concerned with race and racial injustice in this country, unless it was unfairness, perceived or otherwise, towards whites qua whites? The Republican right’s present concern about the bona fides of Obama’s rejection of Wright and his views on race rings, yet again, hollow.

Mark: I’m sorry to have to engage in this but I think you are missing the point completely–but most Obama supporters are blindly nodding their heads in agreement with everything he says. The POINT of this is that Obama is not just a member of this church, but a 2 decade long member, a donating member, who titled a book after the title of one of his sermons, who baptized his kids with this pastor. Why is that important? Because it is a reflection of the character and attitude of a man who want to be the leader of 300 million people, the greatest Country on Earth and its Armed Forces.
Continuing to pledge time, money and support to a man who spews hate-filled, racist, anti-American filth from God’s pulpit is a reflection of his own beliefs and character. Obama can say all he wants that he disagrees with these statements–but the evidence speaks otherwise. Either he doesn’t consider this preacher to be the great spiritual leader of his life as he once expressed (which means he is a liar), or he actually doesn’t mind hearing this kind of hate speech on Sunday morning (which means he is a liar) or he actually beleives some of it (which means he is a liar).
Obama had a leadership opportunity today and he blew it. He could have explained his respect for a man that led him to Christ and at the same time stood on his alleged convictions by letting his supporters and the World know that he could no longer support such rhetoric with his time, attendance and money–he chose instead to pander and divert the discussion and not fully distance himself–what a shock.

Bingo, mklasing.
Good judgment is far more impressive before the fact, not after.
This speech would not have been made had Jeremiah Wright not been a problem for Mr Obama.

Mark–Even Obama admitted yesterday that blacks suffered from failed welfare policies. I don’t speak for anyone but me; however, I have criticized public policies because I think they are bad for people, white and black. Don’t make presumptions about me.
I have a duty to question Obama’s thinking because he wants me to help elect him president. I don’t want a bigot in this office, nor do I want a person who makes poor judgements and choices.
